It is called water hammer, a pretty common issue in plumbing. When you run hot water for a few minutes, the banging noise happens because of sudden pressure changes in the pipes. Interestingly, flushing the toilet helps momentarily because it alters the water flow, but the noise returns once things settle. The cause could be anything from high water pressure or loose pipes, to something simple like your toilet's fill valve. A few solutions include adjusting your water pressure, installing water hammer arrestors (which absorb the shock), or securing any loose pipes. You can also try draining the entire system to refill air chambers that help prevent water hammer. If it's the toilet contributing to the noise, replacing the fill valve could do the trick. Hopefully, this answers the question.

Lound shower noises
Has anyone heard of a shower that makes loud banging noises after running hot water for a few minutes? The weird part is, flushing the toilet stops the noise for a short time, then it starts again. What could cause this? Any ideas how to fix it?Tags: None
