Sponges have always made me question the cleanliness of my kitchen. I use them daily on dishes, counter tops, stove tops, and even to wipe dirty spots inside my refrigerator. Can you say germ hot spot?

Thankfully, I have discovered a quick, easy way to clean sponges. This method will kill the germs and viruses that gather on sponges over time. It's real simple, and I feel much better about my kitchen!

Simply put your (non-metal) sponge in the microwave on high for 2 minutes and then let it cool.

Another tip I have is to use a binder clip as a sponge stand. This will allow it to air dry and keep it free of mildew.
