I have a Maytag Neptune electric dryer model MDE5500AYW. Recently the dryer's push button's wouldn't work unless you pressed the signal + button first a couple of times. Then the other buttons would work. After that the dryer would work for a while then shut off half way through the cycle. Tried the controls, again, had to push the signal + button to get it to work. Work for a while then shut off. Then it went completly dead. Took the top control panel off and discovered 4 big resistors in the upper right coner were really hot and scorched the board brown. Replaced the control board. Now it's doing the same thing, having to push the signal + button before drying. I don't want to fry this new board, so I unplugged it. I took the dryer completly apart when it started having this problem and cleaned it throughly. Any ideas? Is there some way to test other parts of the dryer? I've noticed a lot of thermistors everywhere. Any way to test these? What would cause the board to short out like that?
