Using a Moen Catridge Puller

I'm replacing a Moen 1222 cartridge in my shower and when I tried to get the cartridge out using the suppied white plastic tool the cartridge wouldn't budge. When I called Moen they suggest I go to the hardware store and get a puller. I bought a Danco Moen puller that has the same look as the Moen's #104421 puller listed on the Moen web site and Moen indicates it's for the 1222 cartridge.

What I don't have is any instructions on how to use it.
