ge 4100n10ww portable dishwasher problem

hello
dishwasher was not turning on.
husband opened it up and discovered that there must have been a self contained fire
wires and plastic have melted
dishwasher is 13 months
not sure what could have caused this
can this be fixed
the wires are housed in a plastic cover
