Hi All. We are selling my fiancees townhouse in Maryland and during the home inspection, the inspector said that the hole for the vent louver in the attic wasn't large enough. Is there a standard or code size these have to be? I'd never heard of this before. I think all I need to do is head up there with a sawzall, but I don't know how big to make the hole. Thanks!

First of all if anyone should know for sure it would be the Inspector. He's the one that said it's not big enough.
Normally a code rule is; For every 300 sq ft of attic area, and a roof slope exceeding 2/12, you need a minimum of 1 sq ft (144 sq inches) of vent area. If the roof pitch is 2/12, or less ,you need 1 sq ft of vent are for every 150 sq ft of attic area.
Also to know for sure, check with your local bldg. authority. Hube -
