When we built our home (located in the northeast), we opted to have a storage area put in beneath our front porch, which has a concrete floor. The builder placed corrugated steel sections and 2x4s on the base of the floor, to support the concrete when it was poured. These sections are now the ceiling in this storage space. Our problem is from autumn through spring, condensation builds on this steel ceiling creating a "rain-forest" type of effect (it literally feels like it's drizzling in there). We have this great area for storage, but cannot put anything in there that is not waterproof. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal correct this problem?

I take it that the storage space is the same temperature as the rest of the house or basement. As the outside temperature goes down condensation forms in the storage area. About the only thing to do is to seal off this area,by means of doors or a hatch. store objects that arent affected by the cold in here. Cut round openings in the walls high up and install some round louvers, screened of course to keep out bugs. Then the temperature inside will be the same as the outside stopping condensation.
