can you identify this type of pipe/pipe fitting?

hey everyone;
My wife and I are opening a small clothing store and we've been trying to find an inexpensive solution for hanging clothes. I found these pictures on the internet, and I think it's the perfect solution! Can anyone identify the type of pipes used here (size, type of metal, plumbing or electrical)? The one picture shows the whole wall, the other picture shows the fitting, which seems to connect 2 pipes, but I'm not sure what's keeping the horizontal pipe from sliding down if that is the case so it's probably 3 pipes at the fitting (1 horizontal and 2 vertical). Any comments are greatly appreciated!

The pipe looks like 3/4" or 1" copper pipe to me. You can easily join these by using compression fittings and a couple of wrenches. You'll need a tubing cutter to cut it with. The copper pipe, tubing cutter and fittings can all be purchased at Home Depot. Here's a link that'll show you how to use the cutter and how to join the pipes using the fittings.

You will need straight couplers to connect two pieces together. If you want a vertical piece of pipe to connect the horizontal pieces together then you'll need to buy a compression "tee" for this. Here's a couple more links that'll show these couplers.

Go to www.mcmaster.com and look for "cast railing fittings." These are fittings that lock together using an allen wrench and allen screws. They are available in "cross" "elbows" "flange fittings" etc.
