I have removed the brick hearth that our wood stove was on but now have to plug the hole the stove pipe went through. What is the best way to do this when the chimney will still be used from another wood stove on the floor below? The only access to work from is the actual hole from the stove pipe. Should I just use brick and cement to fill in the hole? And how smooth does the inside have to be because of creosote build up? Thanks for any help.
