  • Suspended Ceiling

I am putting up a suspended ceiling in my basement. I am using 2' x 4' tiles. I am putting up main runners 4' apart, connecting with 4' grid pieces 4' apart and placing 4' grid pieces in the center of each of the 4' pieces connecting the main runners. My question is how far apart should I put suspending wires, and should they only be put on the main runners. I am putting 4 wires around each trouffer light. The room is not rectangular. My main runners are 37', 33', and 22' long. (going around a stairway and other walls) The room is 23' wide. Does anyone have any suggestions.

the supporting wires only go on the main "T's" - four foot apart for the wires is ok as you'll find any closer and it'll be a real pain when you start putting in the tiles. the troffer's weight will be more on the main T's. the cross T's support a little but they rely mainly on their outer ends on the main T.
