  • Window Condensation

I am getting quite a bit of condensation on the inside of my storm windows. So much that it puddles on my windowsill. What causes it, and how can I fix it??

Condensation appearing on your storm windows (as opposed to the inside window) can be a normal occurance.

What happens is that the warm, moist air inside the house comes in
contact with the cold storm window, and causes the moisture in the warm air to condense on the window. If you have older windows with single-pane glass, this is not unusual. Your prime window may not be 100% airtight, which is letting the warm, moist air escape and reach the storm window. Adding some weatherstripping to the prime window may help reduce or eliminate the problem.

Now, if you had condensation on the inside window, that would indicate
that your storm window isn't sealing properly, and it's letting cold air reach the prime window. Having very high humidity in your house can also cause condensation on the prime window. Might try a dehumidifer or exhaust fans.

Does that help? Any other ideas?
