  • Chirping Smoke Alarm - Only nights

    hi

    One of our smoke alarms is chirping once every minute. (The manual says it needs new batteries. The batteries are backup. And it runs on AC power as main source).

    However, I am wondering why the chirping stops during the day time;
    It chirped last night. It stopped for the whole day today. It is chirping again tonight.

    I will be replacing the batteries tomorrow morning; but couldn't wonder why the chirping happens only durign the night time.

    any pointers?

    I think I have found a reasonable answer to this.
    During the night time (while the temperatures are low), the operational efficiency of the battery goes down and hence the smoke alarm emits the low battery chirp.

    During the day time, the efficiency of the battery goes up and hence you hear no chirp.

    Anyway, after replacing the battery, the chirping stopped.
