  • Fire Place Repair

We have a fireplace in our home that we were told to repair using mortar. I got the Imperial Brand from Home Depot and have filled the space with the mortar. I followed the instructions but it doesn't tell you how long it needs to cure before you add a fire to it. I was told by our chimney sweep to use duraflame type logs on the sides of the fire place so as not to put direct heat on it but he didn't say how long before doing this and is not open for business on the weekend to ask. Any one know or can point me in the right direction?
    Thanks!

I am by no means an expert and hopefully you have been able to reach them after the weekend. I would however think that a weeks curing time would be enough given the appropriate moisture/humidity (somewhat on the dry side) and temperature conditins (at least above 60F) exist.

Did you wash the bricks for repairs & if so, with what? Need to tackle this very thing this weekend.

      thanks
