Is there an easy way to attach angle wall molding to cinder block.

I'd like to put drop ceiling in my basement, but don't want to finish out the walls. I have about 120' around the perimeter and want to avoid drilling 60-80 holes in the cinder block.

A Hilti gun would be good for that. I believe they're availzble at most box stores. I have seen them at H.D.

      Mike,

      Welcome to the forum,

I would use self tapping 'Tapcons' and screw them into the mortar joints.

      Good luck, Jim

Had a suggestion of not using wall angles, and "floating" ceiling. Using main tees along long lengths and only securing wall angles along shorter walls were cross tees are used.

          Mike,

I would use wall angle all the way around. The hanging grid is somewhat flexible and I think that you should use the support and stability provided by the wall angle. Plus it gives you a finished edge tight to the wall.

Good luck, please let us know which way you go and if you are happy with the results.

          Jim

I've installed suspended ceiling for 35 years as my business. You definitely want to use wall mold attached to cinderblock walls.

2 ways I use are: Use 1 1/8 inch "hard nails" and nail into block. Buy these at a drywall or ceiling supplier. Not at HD or Lowe's.

Or use power-actuated shot gun (Hilti, for example) and shoot it in with 3/4 inch track pins. The hard nails method doesn't require any special equipment; just a hammer and safety glasses very important.
