  • DIY tips for cleaning mirrors

Hey everyone! Here are some DIY tips for cleaning mirrors:

Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle for an easy, streak-free solution.
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the surface, this helps avoid leaving streaks behind.
For tougher stains, mix baking soda with water to make a paste and gently scrub.
Try using newspaper instead of paper towels for a smoother, streak-free finish.

Thanks for sharing these great DIY tips! I remember when I was little, I used to do the newspaper method myself. It was super effective! Brings back some memories.

Great tips! Thanks for sharing these easy and effective mirror cleaning solutions.

I’d like to add a few more tips. Using a few drops of dish soap in warm water helps remove fingerprints and grease marks. A dry chalkboard eraser is also a great way to give the mirror a polished and streak-free shine after cleaning. Another trick is to lightly mist the mirror with the cleaning solution and wipe in circular motions before finishing with vertical or horizontal strokes for a flawless finish.

Thanks again for these helpful DIY tips!

Thanks for all the great additions! I love the idea of using a chalkboard eraser for extra shine.

Speaking of mirrors, does anyone have tips for preventing fogging in bathrooms? I’ve read somewhere that using shaving cream helps, but I’m curious if there are other effective tricks!

The shaving cream method actually works. Just spread a thin layer on the mirror, then wipe it off with a clean cloth. It leaves a protective coating that keeps fog away for a while. Another quick fix is rubbing a little dish soap or shampoo on the mirror and buffing it dry. This also creates a thin film that helps prevent fog.

Yes! The shaving cream method really works. The dish soap and shampoo tricks are great as well. Another option is vinegar, just mix equal parts vinegar and water, spray it on the mirror, and wipe it dry. It helps repel moisture for a while. If you're looking for a longer-lasting solution, you can try an anti-fog spray or even install a heated mirror pad to prevent fog buildup altogether.

That’s really interesting! I’d love to understand the science behind these protective coatings. Can anyone explain how they actually prevent fog from forming and why some methods last longer than others?
