WP Duet Washer - Replace Now?

My WP Duet FL Washer is making a loud banging noise on the spin cycle.
(Model Duet - Model GHW9200LW)

From what I read the last hour it is the bearing problem and too expensive to replace. I got this machine with the house so it was free to me, but 6 years old.

Can I keep using it until it totally fails or is that inviting a flood in the laundry room when it fails?

Bearing problems do not usually result in "banging" sounds. I suggest someone actually inspect the machine before jumping to any conclusions. It could just be something loose inside it or maybe a problem with its suspension.

I wouldn't suggest it. I think you should have someone inspect it to find out the cause with some amount of certainty. Then you can make an informed decision between repair and replacement.
