  • Kenmore 70 Series Washer Buzzing (timer?)

We just moved into a new house and after installing the washer and running a load noticed there is an almost constant buzzing coming from the timer. The basket seems to be working fine. When the unit stops in between cycles and is silent for a moment, the buzzing continues which makes us think it's the timer area.

Any idea what could be causing this? Is it just maybe going bad? Seems strange that it started as soon as we moved, unless someone did something unloading it.

Thanks for the help. I'm new around here but found the site searching for answers.

    Kenmore 70 Series Washer
I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("70 Series" isn't it). We need the proper model number so we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

Did you have this washer before the move and was working correctly at that time??

Does the timer advance to the end of the cycle as if it was working? If not, at what exact point in the cycle (agitate, drain, spin, etc.) does the timer stop?

If you can provide more details we'll try to suggest possible causes and/or a course of action.
