Screwed up!!!

I washed a big load of towels. Went downstairs to put in dryer a while later and smell something that don't smell good.
I noticed the load size was on "Mini". It stopped in the middle of wash cycle (still have water in the tub)The motor is still hot.
Did I burn it up? Will it reset after it cools down?
