washing machine burning

Hi all: my washing machine was filling up with water when it started smoking. i unplugged everything and figured it was a belt or something (old machine)

i have bailed the water out etc.

i pulled the machine away from the wall and there is a burnt spot on the floor and a lot of charred bits. not sure what to do or what happened. worried to leave it.
