  • Maytag dishwasher problems

Hi. My maytag dishwasher model MDBTT59AWW serial 20929389ct is acting up. The rinse only light is stuck on. I press other buttons and no other lights are displayed. I pressed the heavy wash button, and the light came on briefly. I then hit start, and a cycle started. But a minute in the cycle, the rinse only light was back on. When cycle was complete, detergent door did not open. I turned the circuit breaker off for 5 minutes, but once I put it back on, the rinse only light is back on. What are my options? Is it the circuit board that needs to be replaced? Is it worth it, or should I just purchase a new dishwasher? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Keypad problem?

That button on the keypad may be 'stuck' (aka shorted) requiring the control panel to be replaced.

It definitely sounds like the control 'thinks' it is in a Rinse Only mode.

That may be a possibility but I think it is much less likely than a control panel (aka keyboard) problem.

Is it worth it, or should I just purchase a new dishwasher?
That will be up to you to decide. It however will be difficult to make an informed decision between repair and replacement until the cause has been determined. If the control panel (not the electronic control) was needed and you can perform the work yourself, I would think repair would likely be cost effective if the machine is still in decent shape and is working properly otherwise.

The parts seller I linked to above does have a very good return policy so you might even be able to try the part first to see if it corrected the problem.

Thanks for all the info. I really appreciate it. With the wife pushing for SS, I think it's time to just buy a new one.
      Thanks again
