  • KitchenAid washer making noise in spin cycle

Washer is KitchenAid (Whirlpool) Two-Speed, Extra Capacity/Heavy Duty, model KAWE560WWH2. It just started making a swish-swish-swish noise like sand shaking when the spin revs up, with or without a load. The tub is also wobbling, even unloaded. I removed the back, and everything down below looks intact. We didn't wash any strange objects, just a load of towels, when the problem started. If it's a basket or tub issue, how would I get the top and agitator off to inspect the innards?

    Thanks!

What you have is a direct drive washer... you said you removed the back.. if you take the endcap screws out of console and unplug lid switch connector and the 2 cabinet clips the whole cabinet comes off to view the inside. There is a spring that goes from bottom back of tub to bottom rear of frame.. is it there and still connected...??? The agitator is removed by pulling off the fab dispenser on top and removing the inner cap to expose the bolt that holds it on...
