My clothes washer has stopped agitating and spinning leaving my clothes soaking wet. Today I took it apart and noticed that the pully on the motor would just spin and the belt would slip. I replaced the belt and tightened it up. It spun just fine with nothing in washer. Ran a test load and it won't spin. I can spin the drum fine and it doesn't feel like there is any resistance on the drum. If I open and shut the lid the motor trys to spin but stops.I'm guessing the motor is getting weak but want to see if there is anything else to check so I don't have to start throwing parts at it.

The motor probably isn't at fault. The transmission is what imparts the agitator and the spin cycle. does the belt go around a large pulley underneath the base plate? There's a shaft that goes up into the transmission. go to repairclinic dot com and look up an exploded diagram of your washer.

Yes that's how the belt is run. Small pully on the motor to a larger one under the drum.
