Dishwasher/Disposal Question

As of yesterday both of these units were working fine and today when I ran the dishwasher I see that there is about 3" or so of murky water in the bottom. The dishwasher as such appears to be running ok,as you can still hear the water turn on if you try and run it. The disposal however now doesnt wanna run and so my question is, Why should the disposal not wanting to run have to do with my dishwasher? Also, is there something that can be done before calling for professional help? Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

If you look under your sink you will see that the dishwasher drain line is connected to your garbage disposer. My guess is that your disposer and/or drain line is clogged, this prevents the dishwasher from draining.

You need to clear the clog, here's a link that'll show you how to possibly get it running again.

If that doesn't work then you should remove the P trap from below the sink to see what's clogging your drain line and disposer. Folks think disposers can handle everything, they really can't, the bare minimum is what they should really be used for.
