Glass accidently got into my garbage disposal without me knowing of it. When I turned on the disposal it sounded like something was in there that shouldn't be. So I turned it off and removed all the glass. When I turned it on again it sounded like glass was still in it. I turned it off again and checked one more time but there wasn't anything that I could find. I turned it on again and it started to hum and then turned off. Now when I turn it on there is no noise and nothing happens. What should I do? I don't want to pay someone to fix it if I can! Thanks!

There should be a reset button underneath, push it and you should get power back. Now, since it's jammed you can try to use the hex wrench that came with it to unjam it. Stick it into the hole in the bottom and turn it back and forth a few times. Runs some water into the disposer and turn on the swithc. Hopefully that'll fix it. Here's a link with lots of details:

Once you get the thing spinning - put some ice cubes in it and run it. This should break up what's remaining in it and flush it out. Turn the cold water on full blast while its spinning.Comment

Thank ya'll so much, I did everything that ya'll recommended and my garbage disposal is working just fine now. Thanks again for you help, I'm so glad I didn't have to call anyone to come and fix it.

Congrats on your fix, now just be careful of what you put down that disposer, using the garbage bag instead can save you lots of headaches.[:I]Comment
