  • GE microwave/oven combo

Hi all. Another newbee to the board here. I have a cabnet mount Microwave/Oven combo unit Im installing. I have a question on the wire connections. I have a new 220v 6/4 AWG wire from a 50A Breaker to a junction in the cabnet. How is the connection made. I havent seen wire nuts big enough for the 6 gauge wire. I just dont know as much about 220V as I do about 110V. Thank You

** How is the connection made. **

What does the appliance's installation instructions say?

Is there a cord on the unit which would plug into an outlet?

The instructions say connect red to red, blk to blk and red to red and ground to ground. There is a cord with no plug on the unit.

Is the unit meant for 220 volt or 110 volt? What is the current draw on the unit? A 20 amp circuit for a dedicated circuit seems in order. Answer me these questions and I'll get back to you.

A wall oven usually requires at least a 30 amp circuit. I can imagine a combination oven/microwave requiring more. A 50 amp circuit sounds about right to me (keeping in mind - without knowing the exact model of the unit nor seeing the installation requirements).

I don't know what else to use, maybe HayZee518 can suggest something?

Scotch-lok makes wirenuts good for #6. If this fails - get #6 burndy-s they are bronze split bolts. Make up the splices and wrap with rubber and plastic tape.
