  • Dishwasher shorting out

After waiting 2 months for someone to repair my dishwasher I managed to source my own circulation pump. I took the old one out and replaced it with a nice new one. There are no leaks. There are no wires hanging off.

I can start the dishwasher. There's a whiring sound which I think is the motor 'fan' slightly touching the motor body. The programmer cycles around. Then it blows a fuse. I change the fuse, start it again it pumps water, I turn the programmer knob to empty it, it blows a fuse. I change the fuse, start it again it pumps water, i open the door to see what's going on, it blows a fuse.

As far as I can see everything is in place. The only thing I could have got wrong is to place the two balck leads on the wrong pump terminals (the third lead is 'earth' that ones not wrong).

I had it upside down at times, could water have got in?

    Has anyone any ideas?

In the new part you replaced? I doubt that's a good sign.

What is the dishwasher's brand and its model number? You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag on your appliances at this link:

At what exact part in the cycle (eg. wash, fill, drain, etc.)? Does it always blow during the same cycle and on no others?

There may be a slim possibility as most dishwasehrs should be turned up side down but some European makes have to be for service.

It would really help to have specific information on the type of dishwasher it is.
