maytag washer and gas dryer combo
model number LSG7804AAE serial number A3209590KY
Gas dryer, burner will be lite for about 8 secs. then click sounds comes on - shuts off. Roughly about another min. it would click again then re-light and shut off after 8secs. (this process would keep repeating itself). I replaced the both coils located on top of the gas valve and still have this problem, it was working fine throughout its 10 years and this problem just started, exhaust ducts good and in correct length, like i said its been in the same place for over 10 years and it was working fine till recently. do i need clothes inside the drum inorder for the fire to stay lite?

    thanx.

Does the ignitor go on and off too?

If so, that symptom is most often caused by 'weak' solenoid coils on the burner opening up when hot or under stress of use. You installed brand new coils??

Poor air flow though the dryer could also cause the burner to cycle off prematurely. Did you check for any problems in the venting or the dryer's blower fan?

If the ignitor stays on, it could be something else.

Yes the ignitor also goes on and off. But the ignitor slowly dims out, then the click sound - fire goes off. Does the ignitor suppose to stay on while the fire is being lite the entire time? Yes i installed 2 new coils(booster & holding coil - secondary coil) I checked the entire venting system it is free and clear of any obstructions. As far as the dryers blower fan, i do know it is on, i checked the blades on the blower fan nothing seems to be damaged, what else do i need to check as far as for the dryers blower fan?

Man you've got a tough one hu?

The ignitor does stay on but it does not continue to glow as bright, it appears to shut off but it dosen't. Lets see....power hits first coil, then second coil, then ignitor, then flame sensor,(or vice versa)the first coil again and then flame lights. I feel like yours is going out due to decreased air flow. Check the vent outlet wherever it terminates outside the house, make sure it opens freely, with the dryer running can you feel air blowing? If not disconnect the vent from the dryer and start it, see if runs right then( do not let the dryer run this way for an extended period of time and do not dry clothes in it this way) if not then...Re-open the dryer, and open the blower housing, pull out lint blobs and such, blow dryer venting duct out with air and reassemble. This will be a pain in the hiney.

if i remove the exhaust duct and run the dryer as is, and if the burner still does not stay lite, then what next?

thanx for all your help with this
