  • Washing Machine Spin Cycle

Montgomery Wards/Norge Heavy Duty Top Loading Washer
Model Number unknown (it's about 15 years old). I looked EVERYWHERE.

Spin cycle began not working with heavier loads. Even when it did spin, it would finish the spin and the clothes would still be wet.

The belt is a little loose (it moves more than 1/2" when pushed). There is no apparent way to tighten it.

Found a nipple type rubber thing at the end of the drain hose, which had become pushed inside itself, slowing the flow of water. Fixed it.

Now, spin cycle doesn't work and large quantities of water remain in tub. In fact, during spin cycle, the pump is pushing water back into tub.

Also, the dial knob is broken. Oh, nevermind, that one should be easy to fix.

The belt might be slipping or there may be a problem with its clutch (if your washer even has one).

Sorry without the machine's model number to see whom made it for Wards, I'm afraid I couldn't even guess at how it was designed.

I'm afraid that is of no help.

If you can't find the model number so we can find out what design of washer you're dealing with, you may need to call someone in to look at it for you.
