I have a GE stove top model J GP320EV1WH. We had a little accident late last evening where we spilled quite a bit of water on the stove. We have cleaned up all the excess water but the pilot light is still clicking. It has no trouble lighting and persists even after we shut down the electricity to that area for 30 seconds to "reboot" it, so to speak. What can we do to make this aggravating clicking stop?

the pilot light is still clicking.
The spark electrodes continuing to spark could be caused by moisture getting into the spark switch(es) (one or more - see the link below) which are mounted on the burner gas valves. In such a case they may be able to be dried out (possibly using a hairdryer, etc.) but in some cases residue remains on their internal contacts and they may need to be replaced to totally eliminate the symptom.

A pilot light clicking sound often indicates that the ignition system is trying to light the burner but failing to ignite the flame. This issue is commonly seen in gas appliances such as water heaters, furnaces, or stoves. Potential causes include a dirty or misaligned igniter, insufficient gas supply, or a malfunctioning thermocouple. The clicking sound is the igniter sparking, but if the pilot light doesn't stay lit, it could also point to blockages in the gas line or a worn-out pilot assembly. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the igniter and ensuring proper alignment, can help resolve the problem. If the issue persists, it may require professional inspection to ensure the appliance operates safely and efficiently.Last edited by admin; 11-30-2024, 11:32 AM.
