  • GE gas clothes dryer glow ignitor

My GE gas clothes dryer no longer heats up. Nothing is clogged with lint to keep the ignitor from starting, so I suspect that the glow ignitor has broken but cannot figure out where the access is so that I can view it.

There is a small access door in the back of the dryer that views the motor on the right side, but there is no access door on the left side of the back of the drying which is where the gas line feeds in and where I suspect the ignitor is. There are 3-4" diameter round knock-outs on each side of the dryer but I don't see how any work can be done through such holes. I've replaced a glow ignitor before, but access is my problem this time. Thanks.

more than likely the whole front panel needs to be removed before you can access the burner. the site repairclinic has exploded diagrams of basic dryer design which may help you determine how to go about removing the front panel
