  • Whirlpool Dryer LER4634JQ1 won't shut off automatically

Hello, this is my first post here. I have a Whirlpool Dryer, model # LER4634JQ1, which does not shut off automatically.

When on timed drying the dial reaches off but the dryer does not turn off and the dial just keeps turning into the next mode. When on Automatic drying even when the cloths are dry the dial does not move to off.

I can always stop it by opening the door but I have on many occasions forgot about it and left it drying for long periods of time.

Your help if possible would be much appreciated. Thank you.

if it uses a mechanical timer - replace it. the internal cam is moving the contacts but apparently the contacts are welded together for the run time.

Will the dryer start running as soon as the timer is set to any "ON" position and the door is closed, *without* having to push/turn the start switch??

If so, the start switch may be shorted and need to be replaced.

The dryer does not start running until the start switch is pushed.

I plan on looking into fixing or replacing the timer as HayZee518 had suggested.

Thank you both for your help.

Than the timer may be at fault as HayZee518 suggested.

Finally got around to trying a new timer and I just wanted to let you know that it worked. The dryer stops at the end of the cycle now. Replacing the timer was much easier than I had thought it would be.

Thank you HayZee51 and Dan O. for your help.

              Fixed

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Yes, replacing a dryer timer is usually one of the less difficult jobs although none are usually overly complicated on a dryer. They are a fairly simple appliance.

              Thanks for the follow up.
