Had the pump replaced on the machine in late June. During the re-install of this built in appliance, a small leak must have developed at the top of the machine where water feeds into the top spray arm. I found this out because the finish on my nice oak floor on the other side of the wall behind the kithcen/machine had started to swell. The insulation on the left side of the machine was also damp where the plastic covering the insulation had apparently been torn during the re-install. Now the question - the elbow that enters the top of the machine is a flimsy rubber one that appears to just stick into the top of the unit with a puddle of gooey (non-silicone) based stuff to affect a seal. Is that really all that's holding that elbow in place? Any suggestions to secure that sucker in there a little bit more definitively? The leak had to have been small, but it has done it's damage. I've read so much negative stuff about GE appliances that I'm borderline ready to dump it, but at the same time it was doing a reasonable job on the dishes and it seems all machines have pros and cons these days.

Dan, thanks for your reply. Sorry to not have been more clear with original post. Regarding the leak, there's definite evidence it was from the top as there was water under the insulation blanket at the top of the machine (at that flimsy elbow) and there were water marks on the drywall where it had been dripping before making its way to the floor. The blanket was soaked both behind and to the left side of the unit and the moisture on the floor was behind and to the left of the machine. The model number is GSD5940F00SS. Regarding the drip tray, definitely a must have. Live and learn...
