  • Loud squeeling noise when washer fills with warm water?

When we run the washer on either hot or cold, it doesn't make the noise at all. But when we run a load of laundry on the warm water setting, it creates a very loud, almost squeeling sound, as the water fills the tub and presumably as the water mixes together. If I flush a toilet while the water is entering on the warm setting, it goes quiet, but then returns once the flush cycle is complete. Thus, I think it has something to the mixing of the cold water, but that's admittedly an amateur (and potentially stupid) diagnosis. Our plumber checked the screens on the incoming hoses, and they seemed generally fine. He suggested that it might be something in the washer itself when the cold and hot water mix together. Any thoughts on our problem and some potential fixes? Are there internal mesh screens that might be partially blocked? Could it be that not enough cold water is entering, so it's making that noise?

    Many thanks!

    Maybe water fill valve problem?

Wash water is usually mixed right in the machine's water fill valve (often also referred to as the water mixing valve) to achieve a warm temperature. That valve might be internally caked up with lime and scale, etc. or defective and causing the sound although I don't recall ever hearing of such a condition producing a noise only during a warm water fill. It is however not outside the realm of possibilities.

If you need further assistance please properly identify the appliance in question so we can look up which machine design you're dealing with:
