  • Maytag Quiet Series 100 overflows...

    Hi Folks,

I have a Maytag dishwasher that is overflowing. I came in to the kitchen the other night while the DW was running and found a fair amount of water on the floor comming out of the DW. I opened the door and yep it wasn't draining so I cut the water to it and it stoped leaking after a few minutes. If I turn the water on water begins entering the a vent thingee on the left side of the DW. I had a repair guy out here a month ago for the same problem. I wasn't there when he was however he didn't need to use any parts. He told my son, who didn't pat enough attention, what needed to be done if it happened again. Any ides one what could be causing this?

    Thanx,

    Eric

    Model number?

    Maytag Quiet Series 100
I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("Quiet Series 100" isn't it):

Forum Instructions LINK > Please include Make and Model # in post

If I turn the water on water begins entering
If water is filling the machine even when not running, the water fill valve may be sticking open or defective and need to be replaced.

Sorry about that. The model # is MDBH950AWW. There's that little float thing in the right front corner inside. I checked it in as much to make sure it was moving. That was my first thought anyway. The water enters the DW even when there's no power. I have the power off from the circuit breaker and when I turn the water back on to the DW the water continues to flow from the whole in the left hand side wall. Thanks for your help!

That only shuts off power to the water valve. If the valve being powered was the reason it was letting water into the machine, the float would stop it. A defect in the float system wouldn't make the appliance fill when it shouldn't so it is not your problem.

Good. Unfortunately the serial number is also needed to determine the parts for your particular model. You can see the possibilities for the water fill valve at the following links:

LINK > Water valve for MDBH950AWW with serial numbers starting 19... and above

LINK > Water valve for serial numbers starting 18... and below

You can see how the water valves on appliances work at this link:

          Hi,

Here's my serial number: 19832492CP. I'll take a look at those links, too.

          Thanx,

          Eric
