  • Maytag washer A412 overfilling

    Hello All,

My Maytag washer, model A412, is over filling in the wash cycle only. The washer fills to the proper level, then starts to agitate fine. Then randomly the machine will start filling. If you do not catch it, it will over flow.
Does this sound like the switch? It does not make logical sense, because I'm thinking it would overfill in other cycles.
    Can anyone help?? Thanks

That could be caused by a problem in the washer's water level control (see the following links) or maybe a problem in the air supply tubing to it. No more water should fill once the water level control was satisfied.

Have you tried it on different levels to see if it performs any differently?

I'm thinking it would overfill in other cycles.
Usually a failure in the WLC would be fairly consistent but it is not outside the realm of possibility it could suffer from an intermittent failure. Actually testing its operation would be needed to pinpoint it as the cause to be certain.

One other possibility for your symptom could be a 'sticking' water fill valve. It would also be unusual for such a failure to occur only at that portion in cycle as well though.
