  • Fireplace Xtrodinair ligting issue

I have a fireplace xtrodinair, (millivolt system) around 7 years old. It is very difficult to get the flame to start, sometimes when I flip the switch a bunch it will ignite, but then sometime go out. It is getting more and more difficult to get the flame to turn on. I have everything apart and can tell you the following:
    1. The pilot is lit and in the ON position.
    2. The pilot flame touches both the thermalpile and the thermocouple.
    3. When the wall switch is turned on, you can hear and smell gas from the main burner orifices/burners. But the main burner does not lite.

I have checked the burner orifices and they seem to be open (not clogged)

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Check this recall:

Well, I can't post links, but go to the travisproducts dot com website, and read the "Important Safety Notice"--it concerns your model.

I came across it when researching the consequences of burning NG in a travis stove (Lopi Berkshire) that has been converted to LPG (another thread started).
