This is our first home and the washer that came w it is prob 5-8 yrs old...it is an Amana. I have the hot water pipes turned up all the way and the cold water too, but only the hot water will come out.So I turned off the hot water, and tried that, and put the washer on the COLD switch on the cycle...and NOTHING Comes out!!! IF I switch it to WARM, then cold water does come out (when hot pipes is turned off) tho it is only a slow trickle. Therefore I have been washing all laundry in HOT water which I do not like. I have no manual to this washer, but I am hoping there is an easy solution that I have simply overlooked. Any input would be lovely Thanks

marisakay,
I would remove the hose from the cold water supply and with a bucket under it check to see if any water comes out of the cold tap. If it does then your problem is either in the hose (easy to check) or in the washer itself. If no (or little) water comes out of the tap then you need to check the piping and find if it is clogged or a value was shut off up the line.
Good luck, Jim

Yep, you could also try the hot water hose on the cold water
connection of the washer and see if you get any flow. Since you know
the hot water is fine. If there is no flow its in the washer. Isnt there a small screen in the connection sometimes? Maybe that has
buildup on it as well.

That's strange. Sediment usually appears first in the hot water line. But still, it's good to check both hoses for the filter screens that are right at the pipe connections. THere's probably a filter screen right at the machine entry point, as well. If the screens and the hoses are clear, then the problem would appear to be the solenoid control on the machines cold water inlet. It's an easy and cheap fix. You should be able to get from a local appliance parts shop such as Serv-All.
