  • Maytag - Soap still in dispenser

    Hi,

I searched through the forum and didn't find a solution to my particular problem.

I have a Maytag Jetclean - High Capacity - Quiet Plus II built in dishwasher.
It is approximately 12 years old.

The problem is with the soap dispenser. When the dishwasher door is opened after the completion of the wash cycle, I find the soap dispenser door open, but soap is still in both cavities (prerinse and main).

    Any help would be appreciated.

that would indicate the center sprayhead is not rotating or the lower extremes of the spray arms are clogged with built up detergent. try re-arranging the dishes so that there is no imparment for the water to hit the door to empty the dispenser.

      Model number?

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

It sounds like the dishwasher is not spraying... for whatever reason.

After a fill (right when it starts washing) how high is the water in the tub compared to the heater element? It should usually fill to just below the heater element.

      JFYI

Sorry - I just found the tag with the model number.
        It is a Maytag MDB6000AWW
I have already cleaned both upper and lower spray arms,
        and the problem persists.

I then started the fill cycle with no dishes in.
When it went to the wash cycle I opened it and the
water level was just below the heater element.

I noted the position of the upper and lower spray arms,
and closed the door again to continue the wash cycle.
I opened the door again and found the lower spray arm
had moved from its' previous position, but the upper
arm had not moved at all. Tried this another 2 times with
the same results. So it appears the upper arm is not turning
        for some reason.

          Wash system leak?

I opened it and the water level was just below the heater element.
That should be good so lack of water pressure through the wash system may be the problem. Leaking from any of the wash arms could do that as well as the joint between the wash arm and lower rack spray tower not sealing properly.

Other than that, a problem with the pump itself might be a possibility.

            Thanks Dan.

Is there an exploded parts view for this? When I took both arms off, I didn't notice any kind of seal whatsoever. Maybe with a diagram I can see what's missing and replace it or at least eliminate the spray arm itself as the problem.

Can the pump get clogged up sometimes too? and possibly just need cleaning?

Maybe although the parts views are not detailed blueprints. You can see exploded parts views of your model at the following link:

Can the pump get clogged up sometimes too?
It's possible, yes and also the pump impellers, etc. could also be defective preventing proper operation of the pump.
