GE Ice auger motor freezes up

Hi all
I have a GE Eterna refrigerator model number ESH22XGPB-CC The motor for the ice maker auger freezes up and won't turn. As soon as I take it out and thaw the motor it will work for about a day. I've checked to see if a door seal is leaking and letting in extra moisture and its ok. The dispenser door is not leaking either. This had been going on for 2 yrs and I would really like to solve the problem. The box has had 2 motors replaced and the exact same problem re-occures. I've contacted GE and they aren't giving me any answeres.

Auger motor boot?

The motor for the ice [dispenser] auger freezes up

Does the motor on your model have a rubber 'boot' (see the following link) covering it?

On some early production models no boot was installed during manufacture. When those models suffered your symptoms, that cover was introduced as an add-on upgrade when freezing problems started to occur and was later added right during production of new models to try to prevent that occurrence right from the get go.

I can't think of anything besides air leakage and a missing boot that could cause your problem.

The boot

I called GE parts and asked them about the boot. They had no clue. However I dug further into this awsome web sight and found the boot at appliance repair parts dot com and ordered it. I have to think this is the fix. I'll let ya know
