  • Whirlpool Dishwasher Leaking

We have a Whirlpool Dishwasher (8 yrs) , leaking around the door , I know this has been gone through before. But was unsure of the fix.
Just a better handle, the upper spray nozzle that attaches from the inside back to the upper spray turret, has been off for some time.
It does not seem to leak during the fill cycle ,but when the wash cycle kicks in. It leaks excessive. Could it be that the upper spray is hitting the door directly and causing this problem?
I ordered a new one but do not have it yet.
Could this be the only problem or are there others that need consideration.
    Thanks in advance.

    Model number?

    Whirlpool Dishwasher (8 yrs)
I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number as the forum instructions requested be supplied.

LINK > Please include Make and Model # in post

If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with to maybe offer suggestions.

    Top, sides, bottom???

Could it be that the upper spray is hitting the door directly and causing this problem?
I very much doubt it. It is usually the lower wash arm which can be responsible for leaking and from the lower door.

Whirlpool dishwasher [model gu980scgq3] leaking [from Bottom of door]
Is there any sign of sudsing in the wash water? Suds can cause leaking past the splash guard and out the door.

Is the lower spray arm turning? Water being forced continually toward the door can cause it to leak out the door past the splash guard.

Does the spray arm have a split in it? A split in the spray arm can cause water to be forced directly at the gap at the lower edge of door which can allow it to get past the splash guard.

And, on that design of Whirlpool dishwasher pump:

        GU980SCGQ3 Pump Asm.

Are the screws holding the top half of the pump housing down, tight? Loose screws can cause water to squirt out the joint in the housing directly at the gap at the lower edge of door which can allow water to splash over the splash guard and onto the floor.

        JFYI
