I have a 3 month old GE washer paid around $400.00. When it gets ready to go into a spin cycle, there is a loud clunking sound, most likely the gears engaging, it then spins as normal. The spining slows and gets faster with clunking between spins. Another person servicing my home said thats not normal, its a bad transmission. ITs a known problem with the GE washers. THe GE guy comes out, ran a cycle with the service panel off, and says that sound is normal, its just the gears engaging. With an electronic unit, all the starting and slowing, its a normal sound. Any ideas[?]
