  • Refrigerator not cooling.

I have a Whirlpool ED5PHEXNQ00 that is not running. We started smelling a burning smell yesterday and couldn't locate the source. This morning the freezer was thawing so I pull the fridge out and removed the panel. The 'start device?' that plugged into the compressor had burn marks on it. I removed it and the compressor is missing one prong that burned off. Does this mean the entire fridge is shot? It's only 6 years old... Is there any way to replace the prongs on the compressor?

    Thank you for your time.

Does anyone know if the plug on the compressor can be replaced?

No, just the compressor. However, replacing the compressor will be an expensive job (maybe $350-$450+) which might not be cost effective.

You mean the terminals on the compressor? No they can't, sorry.
