One more question about this old machine...
What kind of grease, if any, should I use on its parts? The centerpost gasket leaked for many months (now fixed), so if the transmission case isn't water-tight, I suppose anything in there has been washed away. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about that. Am not removing the transmission.
But other moving parts, such as the control magnet cam bars? I'm thinking one of the first two of the following, sparingly:
