  • What kind grease for 35 year old Kenmore washing machine?

    Lady Kenmore portable washing machine
    Model 110-7460600
    Vintage mid-1970s

One more question about this old machine...

What kind of grease, if any, should I use on its parts? The centerpost gasket leaked for many months (now fixed), so if the transmission case isn't water-tight, I suppose anything in there has been washed away. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about that. Am not removing the transmission.

But other moving parts, such as the control magnet cam bars? I'm thinking one of the first two of the following, sparingly:
Axle grease (looks like black vaseline)?
    White lithium grease?
    Vaseline
    WD-40/Silicone spray
Any other specific places to lube? Apparently the centerpost gasket does not need any lube at all (am guessing soapy water does that trick).

white lithium grease is ok for moving parts but where there's water it will wash away. transmission uses 90 grade gear oil. this is almost like thick molasses. a stringy grease will do just fine on external moving parts.
