Samsung MicroHood Cold air coming thru vent

Hello Everyone!

I have an over the range Samsung MicroHood that was installed by Best Buy. I just noticed that the vent underneath the microhood is letting a lot of cold air come through it (I am assuming from the outside). Is this normal for Micro Hoods? Is there a way to stop it? Should I stop it?

If there is no damper in the exhaust vent to the outdoors, yes outside air can come into the interior from the outside when not in use. That applies to either a regular range hood or a microwave/hood combo.

I do not know whether an air damper for the vent comes with that microwave model, check the installation instructions. Otherwise some aftermarket air damper might be able to be installed to help reduce the outside air infiltration somewhat. Check with a range hood installer.
