  • GE Water Softener GXSF27B01 not softening the H2O

My GE water softener has quit softening the water. Here is what I have observed:

    -Hard Water
    -Not using salt
-Water Level is up past the float and does not change
-There is a salt bridge but it is lower than the water level
-venturi has been cleaned and should be functioning fine

The float stem seems to stick. Would this keep the water from coming in and out?

I've been told that the softener needs a seal kit. If so, would the softener have the above symptoms?

Is there anything else I should check?

    Thanks,

    Eddie

    Hi fasteddie.

I had the same problem with my GXSS17Z01. Things got plugged up when I didn't check to add salt for a while. I fixed it by taking the unit completely apart, cleaning absolutely everything and reassembling. Then I treated it like a brand new unit and ran bleach/water through it as specified in the original manual. Replaced the salt pellets and did another manual regen. I never did find what was stopping the unit from working, but it uses salt again.
