  • 25 inch Panasonic Tube TV video not working right

Hi, I've never fixed a TV before, but our old 25 inch Panasonic tube TV broke down on me. The audio works fine, but the video does not. The video is basically a thin white line that runs horizontal across the middle of the screen.

Normally I would just trash the TV and throw it out, but I am currently unemployed and wouldn't mind trying to fix it since I have the extra time.

Does anyone know what is wrong? How do I fix it?

    The model number is CT-25G5B
It was manufactured in September of 2000

    Thanks so much!

the problem lies in the vertical oscillator. it produces the horizontal scan lines that trace and retrace 525 times a second from top to the bottom of the screen then goes back up to the top and begins again.
it produces an image by persistence of vision.

this model is well known to develop problems in the vertical output ic. change all the associated electrolytic capacitors around this chip and the ic will also need to be changed, whilst you are doing that just check the rest of the p.c.b for the usual dry joints, paying attention to the power supply and horizontal output stages too.
