the playback head in a vcr is angled off center. it consistes of two magnetic heads located at the top and bottom of the polished head, 180 degrees apart. when the tape is pulled across the head the tape head reads across about a three inch strip of tape at any given time. raster on your tv screen depends on tape head speed and the electronics that generate the re-trace of your picture tube. the tape must be spotless the tape head must be spotless. if the tape head looks dull it will destroy your tapes.

the sparks continue in spite on the cleaned heads

Help sirs, i continue to see white sparks during the play with vcr sv-5000w samsung.
The sparks change when i open the vcr or i touche it with some screwdriver. Perhaps i need an exorcist ?
Thanks a lot for your patience, herrmann
