Hi Everyone,
I bought a wall oven that is a combo microwave/standard oven. It was reconditioned from Sears (Kenmore Model #48843 Stainless). According to the info, it draws 5400 watts:
It's replacing an old GE double wall oven that lasted 21 years.
I installed it, wired it and threw the breaker. It powered up and I set the clock on both the microwave and the oven. I turned on the oven to 350 degrees and it began to heat up, then tripped the breaker (30 amp). I went to the panel to reset the breaker and when I did, the fuse sparked and would not reset. I don't think it's a good idea to continue.
My question: Is the problem likely to be in the oven or in the panel/breaker? Being that I bought it yesterday, a Sears tech will come out to have a look at it free of charge. Or should I call an electrician to have a go at it?
Thanks for any insights you can provide.
