  • Faulty duplex outlets

Have several duplex outlets at home where one outlet works and the other does not. Sometimes the faulty outlet works if you jiggle the plug. This suggests that the contacts are spread too far apart.

Worst case is to replace the outlet. However, is there a device with thicker prongs that might fit over the existing outlet?

if you were to buy "spec grade" outlets, the guts are a little more beefier. AND unlike for home use they won't EVER have quick wire connections, always screws.

      Faulty duplex outlets

If you are getting intermittent connection by "wiggling" the plug, you either have a wornout socket or a wire with a conductor broken within the insulation. In either event, correct this immediately. a poor or partial connection is a fire hazard due to the arc generated and the intermittent "dirty" power issued as a result could damage anything electronic plugged into it. None of it is good. Outlets are relatively cheap. Don't "screw around" with it.
