Wiring for outdoor water feature

We want to install a simple water feature consisting of 2 small stacked preformed plastic "pails" containing a very small pump, similar to a small aquarium pump. This is a unit we purchased. The pump runs on 110V, probably less than 5 or 6 amps, if that. I have located this water feature on a flat stone on top of the exit point of a 4" diameter black palstic underground pipe that carries water away from the house from the eaves trough downspout. This pipe would provide very easy route to thread the 110V cable to this water feature. I would want to exit the downspout at the house to pass through the wall, where I would install a GFCI in a 110V box.
1. Is this doable? Or do I have to trench and lay some sort of conduit to carry the cable?
2. What type of wire do I need to buy for a 28 ft run?
3. At the end of the run, do I have to install a post and box to connect the little pump? It currently has a standard 110V plug on the end.

easiest way for you is to bury #14/2 UF with ground. This is direct burial cable. depth should be at least 18 inches. cable should be laid on a bed of rock free sand and covered with the same. where you exit the ground it should be mounted on a post in a weatherproof box. it should be protected by a gfci breaker or receptacle. the pump would be of the 120 volts type with a molded plug.

Thanks HayZee518 for writing back. I shall follow your directions. I have one question though. As the wire comes up from the ground, do I simply run it up a short wood post and into a weatherproof box, or must it be in a conduit of some sort?

pound a wooden post where you want the receptacle. use a short piece of pvc conduit where the wire emerges from the ground for mechanical protection. fasten the box to the post and use at least one clip 8 inches away from the box to hold the conduit.

Thanks HayZee518 for taking the time to respond. I shall buy a short piece of conduit to do as you say, and a weatherproof box. I shall install a GFCI in the walkout basement area so that the entire line is protected from inside the house. I guess any electrical store can supply the conduit and whatever I need to connect it to the box. Thanks again
